About
Founded in 1994 the league has grown from just a handful of member clubs to now boast over 100 clubs with more than 600 teams providing football for in excess of 6000 children. This season has seen the coveted FA Charter Standard League status awarded to the League and we can now proudly boast that we are the first League in Surrey and the largest League nationally to have achieved this. The league works hard at providing more opportunities for clubs/teams and players alike to participate in as much football as possible, to this end league cup and plate competitions are run alongside the normal league fixtures. Most age groups offer more than one cup and plate competition and many offer two, with the age groups divided into a senior and junior cup and plate, this we believe opens the door of opportunity to a wider proportion of the league and also enables teams of a more similar ability to take part thus not only helping with the development but also making the whole experience more enjoyable.
Each cup and plate competition culminates with a final and both teams will receive a winner and/or runners up trophy along with each player in the squads being awarded a medal as well. At the non-competitive age groups of under 7 and 8 we organise a fun festival at which every participant is awarded a medal for taking part. The fun festival and cup/plate finals all take part at venues all over Surrey, on the whole we provide venues with stadiums to open up yet another experience for all to enjoy. The league also offers training courses from time to time at no cost to member clubs.
For our league to continue to grow we understand that we must look at our past, learn from our mistakes and build on all the good that has been achieved, importantly feedback from all levels - club secretary, managers, players and parents alike is more than welcome within our league and helps us with this process, so please feel free to contact us with questions or suggestions that will help make your experience within the Surrey Primary League a more enjoyable one. We would ask that any/all such feedback is constructive and professional. The volunteers who do this work for the league need much support from all to enable the league to run smoothly, importantly we must not lose sight of the fact that for us all to play our beautiful game we need these individuals who are committed to serving the wider community through their dedication to the administration, so please treat them with courtesy and respect.
